Derived with the same suffix as *-in (instrumental suffix) (compare *loimi < *loodak), either:

  • from *toodak (to bring),
  • from the same root as *toipudak (to recover, recuperate),
  • or from *töö (work), implying an older derivation (*tewe-ma).
