[edit]Probably borrowed from Proto-Baltic [Term?] (whence Latvian plauts (“shelf”), Lithuanian plautas (“sauna bench”)). Alternatively, possibly borrowed from Proto-Germanic [Term?] (whence Old Norse fleyðr, Swedish flöte).
