Probably borrowed from Proto-Baltic [Term?] (whence Latvian plauts (shelf), Lithuanian plautas (sauna bench)). Alternatively, possibly borrowed from Proto-Germanic [Term?] (whence Old Norse fleyðr, Swedish flöte).
