[edit]From *imeh (“wonder”) + *-tä- + *-(e)ldäk. The intermediate derivative *imehtädäk does not appear to be attested, although Karelian imehtie (“to wonder, to be happy”) and Ludian imehtuda (“to be delighted”) suggest parallel derivatives *imeh-t-i-, *imeh-t-u-.
