Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/hihna
Appearance
Proto-Finnic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From earlier *ši(k)šna, cognate with Proto-Samic *sësnē, probably borrowed from a substrate language. Proto-Baltic [Term?] (whence Latvian siksna, Lithuanian šikšnà) and Erzya кшна (kšna, “strap”), Moksha [script needed] (šna)) are probably separate loans from the same substrate source.[1]
