Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/-tta-
Appearance
Proto-Finnic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From the causative suffix *-ttadak. The suffix with a short *t instead of geminate *tt is later analogy from the first infinitive ending (*-dak, *-t'ak) on which the passive ending *-hen was directly affixed,[1] and also in part from regular simplification of consonant clusters.
Infix
[edit]*-tta-
- Passive marker.
