[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *(H)rek- (“to arrange, set in order”). Conventionally linked to Proto-Slavic *reťi (“to say”), Tocharian B reki (“word”), and Gothic 𐍂𐌰𐌷𐌽𐌾𐌰𐌽 (rahnjan, “to count, calculate”).[1]
