Reconstruction:Proto-Balto-Slavic/dēwēˀtei
Appearance
Proto-Balto-Slavic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeh₁-, likely verbalized from the perfect w-participle[1] (Van Wijk, Stang). Per Derksen, in particular from pre-Balto-Slavic *dʰh₁ēw-[2].
Reconstruction notes
[edit]Modern descendants point towards columnar circumflex root-stress (except for the infinitive in Lithuanian with ictus on the thematic vowel). Kortlandt considers the circumflex as original for the overall derivational pattern.[3]
Verb
[edit]*dēwēˀtei
Conjugation
[edit]Fixed accent.
In modern descendants with i-present and ē-pretarite.
