Old Ruthenian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Expected reflex of Old East Slavic *бьздѣти (*bĭzděti), from Proto-Slavic *bьzděti, *pьzděti (“to fart”).[1] Cognate with Russian бздеть (bzdetʹ).
Ukrainian dialectal пезді́ти (pezdíty) is inherited from Old East Slavic *пьздѣти (*pĭzděti), from Proto-Slavic *pьzděti. And also time, бизді́ти (byzdíty) is from a variation with a long vowel at the root, from Old East Slavic *биздѣти (*bizděti), from Proto-Slavic *bizděti < *bьzděti.
