Etymology

From Proto-Iranian *ǰíHwakah; equivalent to *jīvah (alive, living) +‎ 𐎣 (k /⁠-kaʰ⁠/, hypocoristic suffix). Cognate with Sanskrit जीवक (jīvaka).[1]
