Etymology

[edit]

From puke +‎ berg. Literally, Devil Rock, although none of the farms with this name have any notable rocks or landscape heights. The same can be said about farm names spelled as Pukaberg.

(area of Nybro): The name is probably referring to the high rock in the forest between the west side of the glass factory and the Musikvägen street. May also refer to some rock which was removed during the construction of the factory. Less likely, refers to the slalom hill in Svartbäcksmåla.
