Port Penrhyn

  1. A small port in Llandygai community, east of Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales (OS grid ref SH5972).
    • 1945 May and June, Charles E. Lee, “The Penrhyn Railway and its Locomotives—1”, in Railway Magazine, page 138:
The somewhat meagre records available appear strongly to indicate that, of the many narrow-gauge railways in the district, the earliest is that running from Port Penrhyn, on the Menai Strait, a little to the east of the town of Bangor, to the enormous slate quarries owned by Lord Penrhyn on the north side of the Bronllwyd, [] .

Usage notes

[edit]

Normally spelt Porth Penrhyn within Wales. The spelling used here seems to be English-inspired.
