[edit]Blend of Pokémon + index, adapted from Japanese ポケモン図鑑 (Pokémon Zukan, “Pokémon illustrated encyclopedia”).
The English version was introduced in the dub of the pilot episode of the Pokémon anime, originally aired in September 8, 1998.
