[edit]From Serbo-Croatian Pòdgorica / По̀дгорица, literally “under the Gorica”, from pȍd / по̏д (“under”) + Gòrica / Го̀рица (literally “little mountain”) the name of a hill which overlooks the city, from gòra / го̀ра (“mountain”).
