[edit]From Ancient Greek φυτόν (phutón, “plant”) + φάγος (phágos, “glutton, eater”).

- A taxonomic clade within the order Coleoptera – almost all beetles.
- (in italics, obsolete) A taxonomic genus within the family Cecidomyiidae – now in other genera of subfamily Cecidomyiinae of gall midges, etc.
