- (historical) An ancient Italic tribe who inhabited a region in central Italy.

[edit]An Italic name, possibly cognate with privignus (“stepson”) or paelex (“concubine”), the latter of which could have been a derogatory nickname by the Sabines.[1] However, the Paeligni themselves could have been of Sabine origin.[2]
