Etymology

From Initialism of poly- +‎ ketide. +‎ -zilla. From being a very large polyketide synthase enzyme. At the time of discovery, PKZILLA-1, the first PKZILLA discovered, discovered in Prymnesium parvum, became the largest protein known, greatly exceeding the size of the prior largest, titin.
