[edit]First attested in a Latin document from 953 as Villa Euracini, which may be read as 'villa of Euracinus', the latter a name of obscure origin that is otherwise undocumented. The city is also later mentioned as Verazini (1033), Verazim (1198), and Varazim (1258).
