  • (Noord-Holland) First attested as oudendyc in 1423 and 1424. Compound of Middle Dutch out (old) and dyc (levee).
  • (Noord-Brabant) Compound of oud (old) and dijk (levee). So named to distinguish the settlement from Nieuwendijk.
  • (Hoeksche Waard, near Goudswaard) Attested as Ouden Dyk in 1773. Compound of an inflected form of oud (old) and dijk (levee). So named to distinguish the settlement from Nieuwendijk.
  • (Hoeksche Waard, near Strijen) Compound of an inflected form of oud (old) and dijk (levee).
