[edit]- (Noord-Holland) First attested as oudendyc in 1423 and 1424. Compound of Middle Dutch out (“old”) and dyc (“levee”).
- (Noord-Brabant) Compound of oud (“old”) and dijk (“levee”). So named to distinguish the settlement from Nieuwendijk.
- (Hoeksche Waard, near Goudswaard) Attested as Ouden Dyk in 1773. Compound of an inflected form of oud (“old”) and dijk (“levee”). So named to distinguish the settlement from Nieuwendijk.
