Etymology
[edit]From o' + Soyoos, literally “of Soyoos”. Blend of Okanagan + Soyoos, from of the Soyoos, from Okanagan Sẁiẁs, from sẁiẁs (“narrowing of the waters”). The "o" represents an "of" and harmonization of toponyms in the Okanagan with a starting "O". It is named for the narrowing at the outlet of Osyoos Lake.
