Etymology

Named after the eponymous castle which was built during the second half of the 14th century (now ruined).

First attested as Ortulfsburg (Ortulf's castle) in 1360. By surface analysis, Ortolf/Ortulf (a given name) +‎ -s- +‎ Burg (castle).
