  • (Limburg) First attested as Overbrock in 1803-1820. Compound of oost (east-, eastern) and broek (marsh, marshland). The element oost was added to distinguish the settlement from Westbroek. See also Limburgish 't Klei-Brook.
  • (Zuid-Holland) First attested as Oostbroek in 1874. Compound of oost (east-, eastern) and broek (marsh, marshland). Named after a former farmhouse.
