[edit]Named after the Omo River in Ethiopia, + -ic. The river's name could ultimately be from Ganza wá-ma, ó-má (“river”).

- (linguistics) Of or pertaining to a language family, often grouped into the Afroasiatic language family, spoken in southwestern Ethiopia, some of which use the Ge'ez alphabet, and which are fairly agglutinative, with complex tonal systems.
