[edit]From Nesodd- + tangen (“the ness, the cape”). The place name Nesodden itself means “the cape/ness of Nes” and was the original name of Nesoddtangen. From Old Norse Nesoddi, from Nes + oddi (“cape, ness”), with Nes being the old name of the peninsula between the Oslo Fjord and the Bunne Fjord, from nes (“ness”).
