Etymology

[edit]

The city is named after a nearby mountain, the name of which derives from mont (mountain) and tremblant (shaking, shaky). The name of the mountain is said to derive from a Native American story about a powerful spirit inhabiting the peak. Alternatively, the name may derive from a muffled sound that can be heard near the mountain.
