@Lowena Hi! I noticed you add IPA to your Lithuanian entries very consistently. Do you think IPA for Lithuanian is automatable completely? I've been trying to improve this module but I have no native speaker input thus far, so it would be really helpful if you could add testcases, if you think this project is doable. —Aryaman^{A (मुझसे बात करें • योगदान)} 18:06, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Dubious test criteria

@AmazingJus Some of the test cases look definitely wrong.

Shouldn't stovė́ti have a falling tone? The test case criterion implies not, which seems wrong. --RichardW57m (talk) 09:38, 11 April 2024 (UTC)

The required palatalisations for apniū̃kti and pažìnti seem inconsistent. Shouldn't the <t> at least be palatalised in both cases or neither case (I think it should be palatalised in both)? According to Terje Mathiassen in "a Short Grammar of Lithuanian", palatalisation extends through consonant clusters, including into prefixes. Has it got a specification? I'm particularly bothered about how the two intonations are to be distinguished. There are currently a lot of methods in use, and I'm considering writing a key to the IPA because there are so many different systems in use on Wiktionary, and I think some don't distinguish them at all. (It's seems that a lot of speakers don't distinguish them.) It doesn't help that there doesn't seem to be a symbol for 'lightly palatalised', but incomprehensibility might not be a goal. --RichardW57m (talk) 14:35, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Not yet. Feel free to do a specification for this. You could possibly use brackets /⁽ʲ⁾/ for the 'lightly palatalised' representation. Like I said, this is still in development and there's a fair few things needed to be completed.
