Siever's Law in PIE

[edit]

@CodeCat, Ringe claims that Sievers' Law functioned in PIE causing VːCRVːCR̥ and VCCRVCCR̥. This would mean that *h₂ḱh₂owsyéti should be *h₂ḱh₂owsiéti. Is there a reason this hasn't been implemented here? Also, how do we feel about Lindeman's Law? —JohnC5 02:08, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's easier and more neutral if we ignore it. We don't have to represent every little phonetic detail. In fact, a purely phonemic representation would even lack i and u. —CodeCat 18:21, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. Just curious. —JohnC5 18:28, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
