Another possible check

[edit]

Check that codes in Module:languages data don't have any extra or misspelled parameters outside of canonicalName, entry_name, sort_key, otherNames, type, scripts, family, translit_modules, ancestors, wikimedia_codes, wikipedia_article. DTLHS (talk) 20:32, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@DTLHS: Good idea! Done. And similar checks are now also done for the rest of the modules. — Eru·tuon 21:03, 13 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Shared otherNames

[edit]

@Erutuon I noticed that some "otherNames" map to more than one canonical language. Is this OK? I assume it is, since sometimes names are reused/ambiguous, but wanted to check. – Jberkel 16:52, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's fine. Sometimes multiple names happen to be known by the same name. We include all those names so that people can still find it and know what it is, but only the canonical name has to be unique. —Rua (mew) 16:54, 8 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
