Improvements for transliterations of the letter Ga (ᠭ)

[edit]

Does any code-savvy person have the ability to make some of these changes based on the examples mentioned below ("→...✓")? User:Theknightwho or User:LibCae?

Transliterations "ɣ" vs "g"

[edit]

The letter Ga (ᠭ) can be transliterated more precisely than right now: before consonants and when final-shaped, and to go along with its intended context-sensitive shaping.

Ga should be (and is seems to currently be)

  • "ɣ"-transliterated when accurately gimel-heth-shaped (currently before back vowels a, o, u):
    • gimel-heth initially: / medially:oror / finally:.
  • "g"-transliterated when accurately kaph-shaped (currently before front vowels e, ö, ü, and neutral i):
    • kaph initially/medially: / finally:.

Context and sources are from Wikipedia's W:Mongolian script, W:Ga (Mongolic), and also bolor-toli.com.

Examples

[edit]
  • Initial g-C consonant clusters (the W:Galik alphabet letter Ka (ᢉ) should probably not be used here):
    • гц / ᠭᠼ (ɣc) ɣc✗→gc✓? 'gigahertz'
    • агшин / ᠭᠱᠠᠨ (ɣšan) ɣšan✗→gšan✓ 'moment'
    • хир / ᠭᠬᠢᠷ (ɣkir) ɣkir✗→gkir✓ 'mud, dirt'
  • Medial ɣ/g-C consonant clusters:
    • Лхагва / ᡀᠠᠭᠪᠠ (lhaɣba) lhaɣba✓ 'Wednesday' (intentionally or unintentionally transliterated correctly?)
    • өгсөн / ᠥᠭᠭᠦᠭᠰᠡᠨ (öɣgüɣsen) öɣgüɣsen✗→öggügsen✓ 'given'
  • Final ɣ/g or final-shaped ɣ:
    • цаг / ᠴᠠᠭ (čag) čag✗→čaɣ✓ 'time'
    • цэг / ᠴᠡᠭ (čeg) čeg✓ 'point, dot' (intentionally or unintentionally transliterated correctly?)
    • иг / ᠢᠭ (ig) ig✓ 'spinning wheel'
    • бага / ᠪᠠᠭ᠎ᠠ (bag-a) bag-a✗→baɣ-a✓ 'small, little, young, low'
    • зарлиг / ᠵᠠᠷᠯᠢᠭ (ǰarlig) ǰarlig✗→ǰarliɣ✓ 'decree, edict'
    • цэрэг / ᠴᠡᠷᠢᠭ (čerig) čerig✓ 'army'

Tangentially / for a later date?

[edit]

Tangentially there are these two variants of a vowel harmony dependent particle (siɣ and sig) that maybe(?) are intended to be produced with different finals with a preceding NNBSP (otherwise suffix-separating & suffix-shaping), but I don't know. Does anyone else? Again see W:Ga (Mongolic).
