[edit]Borrowed from Tagalog maliksi. Mostly found among ethnic Tagalog stock in Mindanao whose ancestors bearing the surname came mainly from Mindoro during the late Spanish and early American colonial periods and postwar eras. This spelling is more common in Mindanao than in southern Luzon where it is originated.
