[edit]Borrowed from English Muslim, from Arabic مُسْلِم (muslim, “one who submits”), the active participle of أَسْلَمَ (ʔaslama, “he submitted”), verb form IV from the triliteral root س ل م (s-l-m), "to be whole, intact".
