[edit]From Old Irish Lugaid, from Primitive Irish ᚂᚒᚌᚒᚇᚓᚉᚉᚐᚄ (lugudeccas), from Proto-Celtic *Lugudeks (“one who serves the god Lugus”) from *Lugus + *dekos (“honor”), from Proto-Indo-European *déḱos (“that which is proper”). Compare Gaulish Lucudeca.
