[edit]From a local Celtic substrate language: a superlative in *-isamo- from either *ɸletos (“breadth”) or *ɸleitos (“grey”). So, either from Proto-Celtic *ɸletisamā (“the broadest one”) or from Proto-Celtic *ɸleitisamā (“the greyest one”).[1] Cognate with Spanish Ledesma and French Louesme.
