Etymology

From Punjabi لَہَنْدا / ਲਹਿੰਦਾ (lahindā, west, western), from Punjabi لَہَݨا / ਲਹਿਣਾ (lahiṇā, to come down), coming from the sense that the sun sets in the West. Compare Sindhi لهڻ (lahaṇu, to obtain, get down, go down).[1]
