Laarbeek

  1. A municipality of North Brabant, Netherlands.

Dutch

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Compound of the toponym Het Laar and beek (brook, stream). The first element was chosen because of the hamlet's central location in the new municipality, while the second element was chosen as a reference to the many streams that cross it. The name is also a composite of the names of the three municipalities which fused to form it: Lieshout, Aarle-Rixtel and Beek en Donk.
