[edit]From Middle High German kloz, from Old High German kloz, from Proto-West Germanic *klott. The feminine gender is specifically Luxembourgish. Elsewhere in Central Franconian the word is masculine and/or neuter; the neuter is also found dialectally in northern Luxembourg.
