Etymology

[edit]

From Korean 강계(江界) (Ganggye).

Pronunciation

[edit]

Proper noun

[edit]

Kanggye

  1. A city in Chagang Province, North Korea.
    • 2018 January 30, Adam Taylor, “North Korea’s push for ski resorts reveals its hopes for a life after isolation”, in The Washington Post[2], →ISSN, →OCLC, archived from the original on January 30, 2018[3]:
The quick turnaround and high standards seen at the resort were a sign of how important the project was to Kim. “Masikryong is Kim Jong Un's project, so the government would do whatever it needs to get the right stuff,” Katzeff Silberstein said. And the construction apparently went so well that North Korea recently unveiled another ski resort in Kanggye, which local media described as being completed at “Masikryong Speed” because it opened just five months after construction began.
