[edit]From a Tavastian dialectal term köykkä (“knoll, riverbank”);[1] possibly akin to Southwest Finnish köngäs, Tavastian könnäs meaning the same (perhaps as an -ukka diminutive). These may be further variants of kunnas, kynnäs and akin to Estonian küngas.
