[edit]Probably from dialectal kåra (“woodshaving”) (compare dialectal Norwegian Nynorsk kåre or kaure), while -hult is a common toponym ending in Southern Sweden, from Old Norse holt. According to Hyltén-Cavallius, Kåre was name of a local clan or tribe.
