- (archaic) A scholar of the Irish language.
- 1857, Transactions of the Ossianic Society, volume 3, page 28:
- In these indeed, as in all the stories, there are abundance of words no longer used in conversation; but which are understood by the context, or which in districts where such pieces are read, there is always some Irishian sufficiently learned to explain.
