[edit]Etymology
[edit]Calque of English Batman. In Brazil, the name first appeared with the superhero's debut in November 1940, on "O Lobinho" magazine, with ads attested as early as October of that year (despite being written as Batman on the front page, dialogues had only the translated version). Nowadays, DC Comics has made Batman the official name for the hero on Portuguese translated media, but Homem-Morcego is still used as a nickname among fans.[1][2]
