[edit]From heimo (“tribe, family”), found as a latter part in pre-Christian names such as Ikäheimo. May also derive from a Middle Low German form of Henry and/or from other Germanic given names containing the element haim- (<< *haimaz). As a given name, revived in the 19th century.
