Etymology

First attested as vurste in 1207. Compound of the toponym Grubben and vorst (preserve). The toponym Grubben refers to a former castle and is derived from dialectal grubbe (dug passage, hollow road). So named to distinguish the settlement from Broekhuizenvorst.
