[edit]First attested as grafwege in 1294-1295. Compound of either Middle Dutch graven (“dig, excavate”) or grave (“count, earl”) and wege (“road, way”). Located close to the Graefentahl Monastery, founded by count (graaf) Otto II of Guelders.
