[edit]Borrowed from Italian ebreo, from Latin hebraeus, from Ancient Greek Ἑβραῖος (Hebraîos), from Aramaic עִבְרַי (ʿiḇray), from Hebrew עִבְרִי (ʿiḇrī). The għ was added to the spelling etymologically after the Hebrew form.
