[edit]From Middle Welsh Frwdwr, perhaps from Middle Welsh ffrwd, from Proto-Brythonic *frud, Proto-Celtic *srutom (“stream, current”)[1] + Middle Welsh dwfr, dwr (“water”), from Proto-Brythonic *duβr, Proto-Celtic *dubros (“dark”).[1]
