Luxembourgish
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Middle High German vlō(ch), from Old High German flōh, from Proto-Germanic *flauhaz. Cognate with German Floh, Dutch vlo, English flea, Icelandic fló. The feminine gender prevails also in Dutch and western German dialects; so there is no need to assume influence by French puce.
Pronunciation
