  • This one-handed ASL sign is produced as follows:
    1. Posture the dominant hand in the “flat C” handshape about half an arm’s length in front and aside of the mouth, palm facing across.
    2. Close the fingers to the thumb, forming the "flat O" shape, reopen them, and close them again while moving the hand aside (to the dominant side).
    3. Hold the hand still briefly.

This sign refers to the outdoors in general (i.e. outside of all buildings) or just outside of the current building. So, as an answer to the question, YOU WANT EAT WHERE? ("Where do you want to eat?"), this sign means something like, "out at a restaurant rather than here at home".
