English: In heraldry, broken (or fracted, rompu, or disjointed) chevrons can be represented artistically and described in blazon in a variety of ways (compare other images in this set).
John Guillim's 1611 Display of Heraldrie has an illustration of a chevron broken in this style, borne by the Salt family (from c. 1520), blazoned "rompé or rompu".
