From Ancient Greek Ἐφραϊμῑ́της (Ephraïmī́tēs), Ἐφραιμῑ́της (Ephraimī́tēs), from Ἐφραΐμ (Ephraḯm), Ἐφραίμ (Ephraím) +‎ -ῑ́της (-ī́tēs), from Biblical Hebrew אֶפְרָיִם (ʾep̄rāyim), אֶפְרַיִם (ʾep̄rayim).
