[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Latin Henna or Haenna, of obscure origin. Originally known as Castrogiovanni from the local Sicilian Castrugiuvanni, from the Arabic name for it, قَصْر يَانِيّ (qaṣr yāniyy, “castle of John”), actually a corruption of Latin castrum ("fort") and Henna. The name was changed in 1927 under Mussolini.
